Government Insurance Psychology

Counselling through government insurers

There are a variety of specialist government insurances that support you getting mental health support. These include:

WorkSafe (Workcover) Psychologist

Often known as WorkCover (though that isn’t actually correct!), WorkSafe can entitle you to a certain amount of sessions with an accredited psychologist to support you after a workplace incident.

Access to this funding are approved through your doctor and applications to the insurer directly. Once you have your approval letter and referral you are able to book in! In your approval/referral letter it will stipulate how many appointments/the budget that will be covered. While the per appointment fee’s differ there is no out of pocket cost to you - we bill directly so you just turn up and we do the rest!

TAC Psychologists

As TAC accredited psychologists, our team can work with you after the trauma of a transport accident. Most commonly people access psychology after a car accident but it can certainly vary. Our expert team of psychologists will support you in working through the experience and helping move through to a happy and fulfilling life with that little bit of extra support.

Fee: $175.97 (100% billed to TAC directly)

Veteran Affairs (VA) Psychologist

If you have served at least one day in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), including reservists, there are a few options for mental health support that may be available to you through the Department of Veteran Affairs.

To access this or get started just chat with your GP and they will:

  • refer you to the right medical professionals or request a referral to us here at Tonic Psychology

  • provide you with a comprehensive Veteran Health Check
