Meet Mariana - Melbourne Senior Provisional Psychologist

Mariana dedicated herself to the areas of Forensic Psychology and Criminology, which led her to work in a Juvenile Detention Center. She also volunteered at a Rehabilitation Clinic for alcohol and other substance addiction, which lasted more than 1 year. During the psychology course, Mariana had placements in a Hospital, schools (early education and high school) and organisations.

  • After graduating in Psychology, Mariana received specific trainings in Forensic Psychology. She has been invited to lead many lectures, workshops and presentations throughout her career and, in 2019 she spoke at 6th Asia Pacific Rim Confederation of Counsellors Conference.

Experience & Techniques

Mariana’s therapy combines elements of different techniques to assist clients individually. She has experience with Psychoanalysis, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centered and Humanistic Therapy, which she combines and adapts with other approaches such as CBT, Schema Therapy, Play Therapy, among others.

She is a passionate, open-minded and empathetic provisional psychologist who enjoys listening to clients’ life stories and being part of their difficult times, providing them with the support they need to overcome challenges. Relying on talk therapy and deep reflection techniques, she will help clients to bring thoughts, feelings and experiences to the surface under different perspectives. She believes that a holistic approach can lead to surprising results and enjoys participating in this trajectory of achievement with her clients. Mariana is bi-lingual (English & Portuguese) and is familiar with different cultures, which facilitates to connect with her clients.
