Clinical Psychologist
Hung Nguyen is a registered Clinical Psychologist with experience working in public mental health services. He holds a Master of Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) from La Trobe University. In addition to these academic achievements, Hung has supported clients with chronic and severe mental health challenges, physical disabilities, and complex needs through his role as a Disability Support Worker with Extended Families Australia. Hung enjoys bringing curiosity, empathy, and authenticity into his practice to form genuine connections with those he works with. He feels incredibly fulfilled and privileged in being able to help people navigate life’s challenges and supporting them to live meaningful, fulfilling lives aligned with their values and the person they want to be.

Experiences and Techniques

Hung has over three years of experience working with adults (18-65 years old) in a medium to long-term mental health rehabilitation service. He has supported clients with a wide range of presentations, with particular experience in schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, as well as co-occurring mood, anxiety, OCD, eating, substance use, neurodevelopmental, personality, and trauma-related conditions. Drawing on evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Hung values working through a lens of safety, compassion and individualised care, and is skilled in tailoring interventions to align with each client’s unique needs and goals. Hung is dedicated to building strong therapeutic rapport and creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and empowered to explore themselves. He values collaboration and works alongside clients to build insight, self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change through evidence-based and compassionate care.
